POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL

THURSDAY 22ND MARCH, 2018.

TODAY’S DEVOTION: ATTEND TO PEOPLE FEELINGS IN MERCY.

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE. ”The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17 NIV)

Two of the biggest mistakes we make in relationships are when we react without Mercy to what people say and not how they feel — or when we invalidate someone else’s feelings because we don’t feel that way ourselves.

Do you know what the antidote is for both of these? Simply being considerate in Mercy

Mistake #1: We react without trying to understand

We pay too much attention to someone’s words and not enough attention to the reasons or heartbeat behind the words. People say stuff when they’re angry that they don’t even mean. They use words they don’t even intend to use. They exaggerate things. But you need to look behind the words at the point their trying to make because people don’t always say what they mean, but they always feel what they feel with genuine intentions to make a point clearer.

So if you’re wise in a relationship, you stop focusing on what your kids or your friends  or your husband or your wife or your boss says that just piss you off, and you start being considerate of their point out of Mercy. That simply means you are mindful of the feelings of others. Unkind people are those who need your kindness the most. When people are rude and unkind, they are screaming to the world, “I’m in pain, pls understand me and help me !” Hurt people always hurt people except their hurt it’s attended to.

Mistake #2: We invalidate any feelings that we don’t feel ourselves

This is when you believe something is dumb or irrational or illogical because it’s not what you feel, and you dismiss it. Let me ask you this, can one person be cold and another be warm at the same time? Yes. So why try to argue people out of what they feel?

When we invalidate someone else’s feelings because we don’t feel it, we minimize the other person. If your friend  or your wife says to you, “I feel ugly,” don’t dismiss it and say, “You’re not ugly!” That doesn’t help at all. What you need to do is say, “Why would you feel that? What would make you say that?” because you need to look beyond the words and get to the real issue.

Feelings are neither right nor wrong. They’re just there. She shouldn’t have to defend her feelings. She just needs you to say, “I hear you.” And the same is true for anyone, male or female.

The Bible says, “The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17 NIV).

With Heaven’s wisdom, you’ll stop minimizing other people’s feelings. Wise people are considerate of other people’s feelings.

TODAY'S QUESTION.
What habits do we need to change or adopt to become more considerate of people’s feelings and not just their words?

POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 10TH APRIL, 2018. TODAY’S DEVOTION: BLOOD OF RESTORATION. PT 2.

POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL TUESDAY 10TH APRIL, 2018. TODAY’S DEVOTION: BLOOD OF RESTORATION. PT 2. TODAY'S SCRIPTURE: "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?" (1 Corinthians 10:16 KJV). Every communion table is a kind of renewing the covenant of restoration. Nothing can be more exciting to know that like a meal I can eat and drink blessing of restoration. Look at how Jesus put it Himself," Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him." (John 6:53-56 KJV).  So except you keep eating the body and drink...

POTTERS TOUCH DEVOTIONAL. SATURDAY, 21ST OCTOBER 2017. TODAY'S DEVOTION.TO LIVE A QUALITY LIFE, STOP WORRYING PART 2. TODAY'S SCRIPTURE. "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT, second edition) We established in yesterday's devotion that it takes more than willpower to stop worrying and that it takes four things to stop worrying. Firstly , get to know God first and secondly put God first in every area of your life.We will be looking at the other two today. 3.Live one day at a time. The Bible says, “So don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34 NCV). If you’re worrying about tomorrow, you can’t enjoy today. You will miss today’s blessings. It’s okay to plan for tomorrow, but you have to live for today. When you’re always worried about tomorrow, the future gets overwhelming. But God will give you the grace...

MONDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER 2017. TODAY'S DEVOTION.CRITICISM AND PROSPERITY.

MONDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER 2017. TODAY'S DEVOTION.CRITICISM AND PROSPERITY. TODAY'S SCRIPTURE."Start with God. The first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning” (Proverbs 1:7 MSG). Have you noticed that once you establish a goal in your life, you start hearing people say, “Who do you think you are, you think you have money?” or “It can’t be done just like that, how can one just prosper in these hard times?” or “Forget about it, they are all thieves! Etc The antidote to the voices of doubt is listening to the voice of God. Just imagine all the critics that were in Noah’s life. “That guy Noah thinks God speaks to him, but he’s just messing up the master plan of our city by building that ark in his front yard.” The Bible tells us that Noah listened to God. What did he hear? He heard God’s warning that the world was going to be destroyed. He belie...
