POTTERS TOUCH DEVOTIONAL.
TUESDAY, 26TH DECEMBER 2017.
TODAY’S DEVOTION. HIGH PRAISE IS FOCUSING ON GOD.
TODAY'S SCRIPTURE. "Focusing on self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. (Romans 8:7 MSG)
You cannot focus on yourself or the problems of life and be able to praise God effectively. Praise is a sign that your focus is on Him and Him alone. When God is your focus you will praise Him no matter what you are going through. Focus determines strength.
Many of us waste our time and energy on unprofitable ventures and do not praise God enough. If God is your focus, you will praise Him with all your strength. The only reason why we fail to enter God's presence is because of our divided focus. Your focus is anything that takes your time, energy, finances and most of your attention.
High praise becomes very easy when God is your focus. The scripture above says when you get completely absorbed in yourself you will ignore God, i.e you think more about yourself than God and you ignore Him and what He is doing. Praise is focusing on who God is and what He is doing in your life. If you can constantly remember who God is and what He is doing you will always praise Him. Why is focus so important?
First, focus determines mastery in life. Anything that has the ability to have your attention has become your master. Whatever is your master is your superior. If praise is your master, then you are on your way to greatness.
Secondly, focus determines your energy. Whatever you put your energy into brings out your best. Focusing on what is not working increases weakness but when your focus is on God you will praise Him energetically.
How should you preserve your focus on praises? Take responsibility for what you see, hear, say, etc. Be careful where you go and who you hang out with because hearing determines how you feel and wrong feelings will affect your focus on God in praises.
You must understand that distraction will destroy your focus on a life of praise. Be on the alert by focusing on the Word of God. Whatever you see most is the strongest in your life, the more you see His faithfulness the more your praise life will improve. What your eyes see will have an impact on you, the Bible says,"Mine eye affecteth mine heart ...". (Lamentations 3:51KJV).
See God's glory everywhere you go and refuse to see shame or reproach because what you keep seeing determines your focus. Make a daily effort to look at the law of liberty in the day and at night because over time you resemble what you focus on.
TODAY’S RESPONSE
Spend time to remember all the good things God has done for you this year and your focus will attract praises. Praise the Lord!
