POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL

WEDNESDAY 14TH MARCH, 2018

TODAY'S DEVOTION: EXTRA MERCY REQUIRED.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE. "When a fool is annoyed, he quickly lets it be known. Smart people will ignore an insult” (Proverbs 12:16 GNT).

We all have people in our lives that get us angry or uncomfortable. I will like to call them EMR which stands for “Extra Mercy Required”. But have you ever thought that God puts them in your life to be our heavenly sandpaper. They may irritate us, but God uses them to take off our rough edges and shape our character.

Some EMRs are minor irritations. They may do things slow to our expectations. Some of them may be more challenging. They say things that are unbelievable and tell you how they're always right.

Other EMRs may be just plain mean. They never say “thank you.” They can be rude and negative, demanding, demeaning, and disapproving. You just cannot make them happy, no matter how hard you try. Whatever you do, it’s not good enough.

So what do you do with people like that? How can you show them mercy when you’d rather show them the door? I will  share steps to demonstrating mercy to the EMRs in your life.

First, look behind their behavior. When you’re dealing with people who are offensive and irritating, you need to look past their behavior to their pain. When people are hurting others, it’s because they’re hurting on the inside. Hurting people hurt people. They’re full of fear and insecurity. They may have a painful past, or be dealing with some pressure that you don’t know about.

You need to ask yourself why they are acting the way they are. Why are they being short with you? Did they have a fight with their husband or wife today? Is everything okay with their kids? Are they in financial trouble? Is something going on with their health? What’s the thorn in their foot that’s causing them to be mean to everybody else around them?

You look past the behavior and look at the pain and try to understand.

The Bible says, “When a fool is annoyed, he quickly lets it be known. Smart people will ignore an insult”
(Proverbs 12:16 GNT). Why do wise people ignore an insult? Because they look behind the behavior to the pain. When you understand a person’s pain, it helps you respond with patience.

TODAY'S QUESTIONS.

How do you respond to the Extra Mercy Required people in your life?

What have you discovered when you looked behind someone’s behavior?

How does your own pain influence your behavior?

SUNDAY, 17TH  SEPTEMBER 2017. TODAY'S DEVOTION.RAIN OF IDEAS FOR PROSPERITY PART 2. TODAY'S SCRIPTURE. "Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:" (Joel 2:23, 28 KJV). The Bible records that Abraham became very rich in cattle, silver and gold. But how did he become outstanding and outshine other bussinessmen? Through the rain of divine ideas by the Holy Ghost which came in response to his giving. Abraham dug wells for his cattle instead of them going about. By divine inspiration he knew what to do to get fatter and fresher cattle and sheep. Isaac also got the secret of irrigation by the re...

21ST MARCH,2018. TODAYS DEVOTION.MERCY IN CONFLICTS.

21ST MARCH,2018. TODAYS DEVOTION.MERCY IN CONFLICTS. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE."I beg you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so that there won’t be splits in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose." (1 Corinthians 1:10 LB) Stop trying to win arguments. Instead, make it your goal to love those who disagree with you. Go for the love, not the win. Jesus tells us love will always win; he guaranteed that when he walked out of the tomb. When you find yourself in an argument with other believers, use these biblical guidelines for getting along: Let mercy guide your response (Proverbs 3:3–6). In a conflict, most of us say we only want what’s fair, but God’s approach isn’t about being fair. It’s about grace and mercy (Romans 5:8). Let God’s Mercy determine the truth (2 Corinthians 13:8). The truth is not determined by your thoughts or feelings (1 John ...

POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY 23RD MARCH,2018. TODAY’S DEVOTION: GOD’S MERCY AT WORK IN YOU.

POTTER'S TOUCH DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY 23RD MARCH,2018. TODAY’S DEVOTION: GOD’S MERCY AT WORK IN YOU. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE. “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”  (Philippians 2:13 NLT) No matter what you’re going to face in this life, you’re not going to face it alone. God’s mercy is with you, he is in you, and he is for you. “God’s Mercy is working in you.” The word “working” in Greek is the word energos, from which we get the word “energy.” God’s mercy is the energy driver in your life. You’re not just going on willpower. You’re not just going on your own power. Mercy of God says he will give you the power you need, no matter what you’re facing.  Not only is he in you, he is with you. The Bible says, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. On that day you will realize that I ...
