TODAY'S DEVOTION.MEEKNESS TO PROSPERITY.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE."Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5 NIV).

If you want to be prosperous, you must  learn to be meek. The Bible lists many benefits of meekness.The meek will be satisfied (Psalm 22:26); God will guide them (Psalm 25:9); they will become wise (Proverbs 11:2); they will be filled with fresh joy (Isaiah 29:19).

There are many others benefits of being meek listed in the Bible. Sadly, we misunderstand this term. None of us really knows what meekness is. We often confuse it with another term that sounds like it( “meek” sounds like “weak.”) Nobody wants to be weak, so nobody wants to be meek. 

However, meekness and weakness are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Meekness is in no way weakness. In fact, the Greek word for meekness literally means “strength under control.” To be meek is not to be weak. It is used to describe a wild stallion that has been tamed. That stallion still has all the strength it had when it was wild, but now its strength is under control. It is strength bottled up for the master’s use. God doesn’t want you to be weak, He wants you to be meek.  

Here’s a simple definition of the word meek: Let go and let God. That is the essence of meekness. It is surrendering, submitting and agreeing to what God wants to do in your life. It’s letting God be God in your life. Let go, and let God.

Today's Prayer
Thank you Lord for today's teaching. Henceforth, I will be meek and guarantee my prosperity in Jesus Name. Amen.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE ."The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican." (Luke 18:11 KJV). There are good ways to praise God and also wrong ways of doing it. Indeed high praises open doors before God but the man in the verse above praised God and his door was closed. Why? Because he did it in a wrong way. Never praise God in an attempt to intimidate and condemn others. Do not ever engage in praise and thanksgiving to show you are better than people around you. High praises ought to be with a deep sense of humility to God i.e it is by grace and not by your own effort. When your praises makes people get offended at God as if God is partial it is wrong.
