TODAY’S DEVOTION. ENEMY OF HIGH PRAISES.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE."He entered the town. Eli was sitting on his stool beside the road keeping vigil, for he was extremely worried about the Chest of God. When the man ran straight into town to tell the bad news, everyone wept. (1 Samuel 4:13 MSG)

There are different enemies of praise but one major one is spreading bad news! You do not give God glory when you are a bearer of evil news. As praise instruments you must make a habit of telling people things that bring praise and thanksgiving. Make a habit of "carrying the child out of the bowl and throwing the dirty water away."

In our opening scripture, a man came from the war front where Israel had just lost a battle.The ark of covenant had been taken and the two sons of prophet Eli died. He gave an evil report without wisdom and the first thing the the evil report did was bring sorrow and pain,"everyone wept". Weeping does not give glory to God.

Secondly, it caused Eli's death. Thirdly, a pregnant woman was forced into labour and died at delivery, the baby she gave birth to was named I-chabod, "And she named the child I–chabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken. (1 Samuel 4:21, 22 KJV)

God does not take glory in bad news, every bad news gives the impression that His glory has departed. You are a gospel carrier, good news should be your heritage. Satanic news instills fear in the hearer, just as faith comes by hearing fear also comes by hearing.

Can you imagine the effect of that evil report in the opening scripture? Some years ago a brother went to be with the Lord in my home church. The way and manner our senior pastor broke the news was so mature that instead of weeping, we started praising God. The devil would have been so disappointed because we obeyed the scripture which says "in everything give thanks."

Avoid gatherings where evil news is celebrated because it is an enemy of praise. Do not broadcast evil news on social networking sites like Facebook ,twitter, instgram, whatsapp etc. Neither should you send them as text messages or e-mails. Instead,spread the goodness of the victory in Christ Jesus. Go tell it on the mountains, over the hills and everywhere that Jesus is Lord!

TODAY'S PRAYER
Father Lord, henceforth I will be a carrier of good news. Never again will I spread bad news in Jesus name. Praise the Lord.
